Minutes of the OVH Meeting

August 21, 2006

 

 

George / K4KVT called meeting to order at 2000 Eastern Time.

 

Following the Pledge of Allegiance, all present stated their names and call signs.  There were 23 OVH members present.

 

 

BUSINESS MEETING

 

HAMFEST: George / K4GVT – George requested that someone step forward and be the Hamfest Chairman for 2007.

 

FIELD DAY: George / K4GVT – George and Butch / W4HJL will co-chair Field Day in 2007.

 

EDUCATION: Brian / WC4J and Trisha / KI4PCM have volunteered to teach a tech class, and would like to have it completed before Christmas.  Al / KB4BHB will contact Strayer to try to arrange a classroom.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT: Bill /N3OH – Bill read the Treasurer’s Report.

 

The Minutes of the July 2006 OVH meeting were approved.

 

MEMBERSHIP: Joe / KI4OHR – Two new potential members were read in by Joe: Edward Morthimer / WA3TOL and Patricia “Trisha” Rabe /  KI4PCM.

 

PACKET: Bill / N3OH – Bill has his packet station packed up right now, but he is getting reports that the node is working.

 

WEBPAGE: Bill / N3OH – The webpage is back up and running.  Comcast made some corrections and all appears to be o.k. now.

 

REPEATERS: Butch / W4HJL – All repeaters are working well.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Brian / WC4J asked if the bus is needed for the upcoming VHF contest.

 

Theresa / KG4TVM noted that JOTA will take place on October 21 and asked OVH members to let her know if they will be participating.

 

Bill / N3OH noted that the special event commemorating the 2nd Battle of Manassas / Bull Run will take place this Saturday at the Battlefield.  Bill would like to be up and running by 8:00a.m. and be finished by 5:00p.m.  Bill showed the QSL card that was designed by Elizabeth / KG4NXV.

 

David / KI4AZX noted that 10 OVH members showed up to help with the Tri-It-Now Triathlon.  The race coordinator, Ina, was very pleased with the event and how everything went, and thanked the OVH for their help.

 

 

BREAK

 

Steve / N4OGR noted that Trisha / KI4PCM has agreed to take over as Publicity Chair.  Thank you Trisha for your efforts.  Steve also noted that he has contacted the County about the possibility of doing a presentation for the Club.  Steve will contact John / KG4NXT when something has been firmed up.

 

 

PROGRAM

 

OVH’S very own Wayne / AG4ZZ gave a presentation on QRP.  Wayne had a slide show and also brought in several of his QRP rigs.  Wayne is trying to construct the smallest rig ever made, which currently weights 0.103 pound.  He’s hoping to make it lighter than that.  John / KG4NXT had made copies of the slide show for those interested.

 

50/50 DRAWING – Ruth / KU4WH won the 50/50.

 

The meeting adjourned at 2123 Eastern time.
